Pure Detroit poster: Jacob Kolding workshop
While conducting my research for the Werkplaats spring reader (Not Really Being Anywhere but Everywhere) on Detroit Techno, I became very drawn to the early almost invisible aesthetic of the music genres album covers. Adorning little to no art work the music was packaged in blank sleeves with artists working under several aliases at one time. In trying to capture this extremely underground almost invisible aesthetic I designed this poster with an early draft of my article that was to be printed in the reader later that year. The text was used at a small point size and repeated several times to infer the visiualization of the music it was designed for while retaining an anonymous quality. As the content is repeating the poster itself has no definitive dimension.
